Emily studied violin with Ms. Milda Martisius and Ms. Gon-Ching Ruan for many years. Since then, she has developed a fun and unique teaching style which can be adapted for students of various ages and levels to reach their individual goals.

Many of her students currently play in different orchestras and give solo performances. Various amount of her students had tremendous examination grades, award prizes, and successes in competitions. She is willing to help students prepare for violin examinations, competitions, auditions and recitals.

Teaching Method

Traditional and Suzuki teaching systems are both used for the beginner’s study curriculum. Emily utilizes piano accompaniment to help students improve on pitch accuracy, ear training, and music theory. She also focuses on assisting students with proper posture to build a strong foundation, especially for beginning students. She helps students strengthen their violin technique, tone quality, and also selects a variety of musical genres for students at all levels. She also frequently includes music appreciation and orchestra pieces introduction to her lesson plans.

For beginning students, the fundamental in music, such as rhythm, tempo, sitting and both hand posture, pitch accuracy, ability to control the bow, tone quality, theory and passion of study the music/violin is the key point to make student success in violin study.

For intermediate and advanced students, music scales, sight reading, shifting in different position, sophisticated tone quality, diversity in different violin pieces, different genre and style, are main goals for their violin study.
