Piano

Emily has been playing the piano since the age of six and has studied with Ms.Hueishan Hong, Ms. Hueiwen Deng, Mr. Shichung Chen and Ms. Yiwen Peng. She holds a Masters Degree in Music Education from Pennsylvania State University, where she studied piano with the French pianist Ms. Marylene Dosse and specialized in instrumental music education.

Emily creates a fun and inventive teaching style that is adaptable to students of varying ages and levels, so that each student can meet his or her individual goals. During their lessons, students explore both classical and contemporary pieces, develop their musical ear training, and achieve a solid understanding of music theory.

In addition, Emily’s students build a strong foundation by learning proper posture and building finger power, which is especially helpful for beginners, and refine their technique and tone quality while playing a variety of musical genres. She also incorporates music appreciation and exposure to piano masterpieces into her lessons.

Her students often play in solo and duet performances and as accompanists to other instrumentalists and vocalists. Many of her students even receive high examination grades and are successful in competitions. Assisting students in preparing for piano examinations, competitions, auditions and recital is part of Emily's program.

Teaching Method

For beginning students, the fundamentals of music, such as rhythm, tempo, sitting and hand posture, finger power, tone quality, theory and passion for the study the music/piano are the focus, as they are essential to the beginning student's ongoing success on the instrument.

For intermediate and advanced students, scales, sight reading, strengthening finger power, sophisticated tone quality for different pieces, diversifying genres and style, are the main points of study. The skill to perform music will make every student’s life different.
